Diverse Habitats: The park boasts a variety of ecosystems, including open savannah, acacia woodlands, papyrus swamps, and lakes. This diverse environment supports a rich array of wildlife.
Abundant Wildlife: While smaller than some of Uganda’s other national parks, Lake Mburo is home to a significant number of animals. You can spot zebras, impalas, elands, buffaloes, oribi, Defassa waterbuck, leopards, hippos, hyenas, topi, and reedbuck. The park is also a haven for birdwatchers, with over 350 bird species recorded.
Scenic Lakes: The park is named after Lake Mburo, the largest of its 13 lakes. These lakes offer opportunities for boat safaris, where you can observe hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of waterbirds.
Cultural Significance: The park is situated in the Ankole region, known for its rich cultural heritage. You can learn about the Bahima pastoralists and their traditional cattle herding practices.
