This 4 days Uganda primates circuit safari will let you walk in the jungle for chimps and gorillas as well as look for tree-climbing lions in Ishasha and experience a cruise to see hippos and more on the famous Kazinga channel.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer – Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Upon arrival at the airport, our guide/driver will receive you and transfer Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park the home to half of world’s living mountain gorillas with en-route lunch in Mbarara. This journey will give you an opportunity to see the Uganda equator, beautiful landscapes, banana plantations, homesteads, local people, farm lands among other things. You will arrive at the lodge in time for check in, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking & Transfer – Queen Elizabeth National Park

Following an early breakfast at the lodge, travel to the Park Headquarters in Bwindi Forest to meet your ranger guides for the day and begin your gorilla tracking experience. Experienced ranger guides and trackers will accompany your party on an early morning trek into the dense rain forest on the mountain slopes. Few words can describe the thrill of today’s lifetime experience! Coming face to face with mountain gorillas is a rare wildlife encounter that is exhilarating, humbling and enthralling. Please note that gorilla tracking is strenuous with treks ranging from 1hr up to 8hrs, at high altitudes in hot African conditions. The thrill of the hour you spend quietly observing these gentle giants once you find them is so worth the trek to get there! Although mountain gorillas are wild animals and sightings cannot be guaranteed, viewing success rates are over 95%.

Later after an encounter, return for a hot lunch before you embark on the journey to Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth national park. The Ishasha sector is known for its tree-climbing lions, a behavior that these big cats only have in a few places and on arrival at your lodge, check-in, relax and overnight stay.

Day 3: Sunrise Game Drive & Afternoon Boat Trip – Kazinga Channel

In the early morning we head in to Ishasha in search for tree-climbing lions in the fig-trees, but also to see buffaloes, elephants, topis and more. Our journey on this safari then continues with the exciting drive to the main part of Queen Elizabeth NP with chance of seeing baboons and other monkeys along the way. After lunch we head for a classic highlight of the 3pm 2hrs Boat trip on the famous Kazinga channel, a 36kms channel connecting Lake George and Lake Edward. From the boat you can spot land and water adapted Hippopotamuses yawning and some slashing canines to each other, the National Geographical society killing machine the Nile Crocodile gaping along the banks, savannah version of Pigs the Warthog- Pumba of the award-winning Lion King are a hallmark sign in this animal home as well as many different bird species.

Day 4: Chimps Trekking & Transfer – Entebbe International Airport

After breakfast, you will check-out of the lodge and drive over to Kyambura Gorge. Here you enter the forest in a group with a specialized ranger guide to experience a jungle walk and search for chimpanzees. After the trek you proceed with your journey to the airport. Have en-route lunch in Mbarara and another stop-over at Kayabwe for the Uganda equator experience before continuing to the airport for your outbound flight.
