During this 6 Day Primate Safari, you will explore vibrant Kigali before heading to the rainforest. Most importantly, one full day is dedicated to the Mountain Gorilla Trekking Experience. Detailed Itinerary – 6 Day Primate Safari

Day 1: Arrival & Kigali City Experience

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, our guide will welcome you and transfer you to your hotel. Afterwards, explore Kigali’s cultural highlights. Visit art galleries, local markets, and the Genocide Memorial Center. As evening falls, enjoy the city’s blend of tradition and modern energy.

Day 2: Transfer to Bwindi

After breakfast, begin your scenic drive to Bwindi via the Kyanika Border. The journey winds through rolling hills, rural villages, and lush countryside. Along the way, notice subtle cultural shifts as you cross into Uganda.

Upon arrival at your lodge, relax and prepare for the next stage of your 6 Day Primate Safari adventure.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking

Today is the highlight of your 6 Day Primate Safari. After an early briefing at 8:00am, ascend into Bwindi Forest with ranger guides and porters. Trekking can take 4–7 hours, depending on the gorillas’ location.

Once located, spend one unforgettable hour observing these gentle giants. Afterwards, return to the lodge. In the evening, relax with a sundowner and campfire experience.

Day 4: Nkuringo Community Walk

After breakfast, enjoy a guided community walk to Suma Waterfall (4–5 hours). The 7km trail passes through vibrant villages and scenic landscapes. The waterfall area is rich in birdlife and indigenous tree species.

Alternatively, choose the Buniga Forest Trail (approx. 3 hours). This Batwa-led project shares powerful stories of forest life and heritage. As a result, your 6 Day Primate Safari becomes both cultural and educational.

Day 5: Lake Mutanda Experience

After breakfast, drive to Rubuguri junction for an optional 9km guided walk to Lake Mutanda. The trail passes through cultivated gardens and rural villages. Therefore, it offers authentic countryside views.

You may enjoy a canoe ride with local fishermen on Lake Mutanda. Alternatively, explore Kisoro town’s fresh markets before heading to your lodge.

Day 6: Golden Monkey Trek & Departure

Rise early for your golden monkey briefing at Ntebeko Visitor Center in Mgahinga. After briefing, begin your trek with a lead tracker and armed rangers. Hike toward the bamboo forest zone where golden monkeys thrive.

Once located, spend one hour observing their playful behavior. Finally, descend and transfer to Kigali Airport for your outbound flight, marking the end of your 6 Day Primate Safari.
