Your 2 Day Chimpanzee Adventure takes place in Kibale Forest National Park, a world-renowned destination for chimpanzee trekking, birding, and primate tracking. The park sits at about 3,300 feet above sea level. Moreover, it forms part of the great Central African rainforest ecosystem.

Kibale is home to several large chimpanzee communities, each with more than 100 individuals. These groups have complex social structures. Dominant males protect their territory. Meanwhile, females often move in smaller family groups. As a result, every 2 Day Chimpanzee Adventure offers fascinating wildlife behavior and close-up forest experiences.

Detailed Itinerary For The 2 Day Chimpanzee Adventure

Day 1: Transfer – Kibale Forest National Park (5–6 Hours)

Your 2 Day Chimpanzee Adventure begins upon arrival at the airport. First, your professional guide will welcome you and brief you about the safari. Then, you will drive west toward Fort Portal and Kibale Forest National Park.

Along the way, you will travel on both paved and unpaved roads. You will pass traditional Ugandan villages and scenic rolling hills. Additionally, the countryside provides excellent photography opportunities.

As you approach Fort Portal, located in the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains, you will enter Uganda’s famous tea-growing region. A vast green landscape stretches before you. This creates a beautiful contrast to the areas you passed earlier.

Finally, you will arrive at Kibale Forest, one of Africa’s leading rainforest research reserves. Years of scientific research have habituated many animals to human presence. Therefore, your 2 Day Chimpanzee Adventure offers excellent wildlife viewing.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking & Transfer – Entebbe

On the second day of your 2 Day Chimpanzee Adventure, wake up early for breakfast. Afterwards, proceed to Kanyachu Visitors’ Centre for a briefing at 8:00 AM.

Then, enter the forest for chimpanzee trekking, the highlight of your 2 Day Chimpanzee Adventure. Chimpanzees are humans’ closest relatives. However, they are also among the most threatened primates in Africa.

During the trek, you may also see other primates. These include Black-and-White Colobus monkeys, L’Hoest’s monkeys, Grey-cheeked Mangabeys, Red-tailed monkeys, bush babies, and pottos.

In addition, the forest is rich in birdlife. Species include the Yellow-spotted Nicator, Rumped Tinkerbird, Little Greenbul, Green-breasted Pitta, Crowned Eagle, and Black Bee-eater. Occasionally, forest elephants may also be seen.

After your trek, enjoy a hot lunch. Finally, begin your scenic road transfer back to Kampala or Entebbe International Airport for your departure. This marks the end of your memorable 2 Day Chimpanzee Adventure.
